Tesla Active-only enrollment process:
- Tesla Powerwall 2, Powerwall+, and Powerwall 3 are eligible for Active-only dispatch to receive the performance-based incentives.
- Tesla Active-only applications do NOT need to be submitted to the Salesforce enrollment platform. To apply for Tesla Active-only, customers simply need to self-enroll via the Tesla Mobile App in the Virtual Power Plant section (“VPP”) after receiving Permission to Operate / Approval to Energize. Active-only Tesla customer enrollment requests still require “export” interconnection approval from the utility for the BESS.
Tesla limitations:
- Eversource customers only: Tesla Powerwall 3 (only) is now eligible for Passive + Active dispatch to receive both an upfront incentive and the performance-based incentive if the contract had the upfront incentive applied as a discount and Permission to Operate / Approval to Energize is issued 6/5/2025 or later. There will be another announcement when Passive dispatch and the upfront incentive will be open to United Illuminating customers, along with it being updated on the Eligible Equipment list.
- There are limitations for Tesla Powerwall 3 participation regarding Passive dispatch eligibility and compliance:
- The Tesla Powerwall 3 must be capable of discharging its available energy capacity down to a 20% reserve state of charge in a 3-hour period (i.e., 11.5 kW [one (1) base unit Powerwall 3] is limited to a maximum energy nameplate capacity of 40.5 kWh [one (1) base unit with two (2) expansion packs]). When utilizing the latest Incentive Estimate Calculator (published to the Contractor Resources page), be sure to verify with the embedded Passive dispatch compliance check.
